and a bazillion pictures later...

Ok so I thought my next post would be a cute, funny, Pumpkin carving, Happy Halloween post, and although that's still coming, very soon, I have to write this one first!

Last night we decided to carve our pumpkins from the Pumpkin patch trip on Saturday with the in-laws! We had fun carving them and the kids really got into planning out the faces in the pumpkins, scooping out the seeds, etc, etc (like I said: Cute Halloween post coming later) Soooo this post picks up at the end of pumpkin carving.....

We had finished carving our pumpkins and they looked adorable! I was so excited to see them and the kids were super proud of themselves for carving and excited about how cute they looked. So taking all this into consideration what next... Picture's of course!

In my head, I'm thinking oh this will be great! Cute pics of both kids with their freshly carved pumpkin, all smiles in excitement of how wonderful they look, and of course the perfect shot of both kids and both pumpkins looking adorable!

Well instead of that picture this is what I got:

 One kid running away.....
At least they are both sitting still.....
Em thinks this is her best side & Mills decides he's going to sneeze....

Em's so tired from all the "GREAT" Picture taking that she thinks she'll take a nap...

then we decide we'll run away and roll the pumpkins...
Yep... aren't those just adorable!!!!!!!

At least the kids are cute ;)  & at least we have the memories of my silly crazy kids even if we don't have the pics to prove it!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Pizza for Lunch....

Today has been a nice calm Saturday at home with my sweet babies and my hubby! We have no plans for the day and spent the morning playing in the playroom and watching Cartoons!
Around lunch my creative side came out and I wanted to do something fun with the kids. This is a typical theme for us on Saturdays, since I'm never home with them during the week, we usually take Saturday morning to do some fun "projects" or in this case.. Lunch! The kids love to make pizza.. we usually make canned biscuit pizzas and they think it's way too cool that they can play with their food!

Well today I thought of something new.. Well.... Cough Cough.... I saw something new on Pinterest. Yet Again... sigh This was again one of those moments where I was like... "And why haven't I thought to do this." So todays project was.....

PIZZA Halloween Style!

Getting Ready to roll out the pizza dough!

Emma & Miller cutting out their cheese with Pumpkin & Ghost Cutters!

Happy with their pizza... Ready to go into the oven!

Miss Em a little unhappy with how long her pizza is taking in the oven!

The Finished Product! Pretty Cute little pizza!

Miller cutting the pizza in squares.

We all enjoyed the Pizza for Lunch. Miller told us that his pizza tasted just like "Pumpkin" and that we should make Pumpkin pizza more often! He has such a wild imagination! What a great morning with my sweet babies!

Someday I will be "Crafty"

Well, I've always said I don't have a crafy bone in my body, and well today's craft projects, or maybe we should just call them craft-failures, really proved that fact... once again!
So myself, along with the rest of the young-ish, computer literate, crafty wanna-be, recipe finding, blog-reading women in the world have formed an addiction to the great Pinterest. It's almost like it should have a halo and you should hear the "ahhh haaaa" church bells when you log on. There's always something new to see when you log on and I always think.. I can so do that OR how easy is that OR why didn't I think of that! One of the great things about Pinterest is the holiday boards and for my "desperate to be crafty mom and do adorable art projects with my kids that will make memories" self it's a black hole of ideas!

Of the millions of ideas out there, I decided that at least a couple of craft projects fit into the " how easy would that be and not to mention oh so cute" mold. I gathered all my supplies, which for me means actually purchasing all the said supplies at either craft store, where I end up spending way too much time and even more money getting in way over my head with little "projects" that I can do anytime or the less than fabulous craft department at the local WalMart.

Well here's Project #1: The adorable Polka-Dot Pumpkin
I thought this was super adorable and would be so easy to do! I mean it's circle stickers and black spray paint on a pumpkin. How hard can this be. Yay, a cute cheep Halloween Pumpkin idea. SO here's what a perfect Polka-Dot pumpkin looks like:
.....and...
This is what I did, following the directions super carefully. I purchaced the polkadot stickers, and me & the kids placed them all over the pumpkin.
Then we went outside and painted the entire pumpkin black, waited for about 10 mins until it was sticky-dry. Exactly like it said in the "directions" and..... this is what I got.

Cute Right... Baaahhhhaaa! I mean really, I followed the directions exact! I don't know what is the problem with MY Circle stickers- but obviously I don't have the "correct" circles, because, my pumpkin looks more like it's got a few sick polka-dots! Oh well, I tied a cute ribbon bow around it to try and make it look a little more appealing and set that thing out for viewing! That sucker took time & money to look that hideous.. I'm showing it off ;)

Project #2 of the day went a LOT smoother and I think turned out to be a winner! Goooo me for being somewhat "crafty"!
I have been loving all these cute art projects on Pinterest... I mean what, did you expect any different! Lots of cute kid projects like using your handprint as Santa's hat and beard OR making a giant Turkey out of hands and feet.... (just so you know, those are coming too- in a later post) But, one that caught my eye for the HALLOWEEN season is the oh so cute Ghost Feet! I just about had to beg my sweet sweet hubby into letting me do this as a "family" project... reluctantly he agreed, and up until today I think he agreed thinking this would be like my MANY projects before and never quite make it off the ground or in my over buying for project ideas- out of the bags! Boy was he surprised when he came home from work today and I greeted him with a hug, a smile, and a plate full of white paint and proceeded to remove his shoe! haha!
So back to project #2... Here's the example I found: Isn't that just the most adorable Halloween decoration you've ever seen! The ultra-crafty wanna-be in me smiled just looking at it, thinking of all the many years of joy it would bring me looking back to when my little "ghosts" were well.. cute & little! Like I said, I wanted this to be a family project and I even came up with a ultra cute, and I'll agree kinda "corny" family name for our little set of Ghost Feet!
I painted the kids feet and my own then added a few ribbon touches, I mean everything looks cuter with a bow.. right?!
It's that just adorable.. if I do say so myself! I'm pretty proud of my no-crafter abilities on this one. I even made a cute little title to go with it... Happy HOYLE-oween 2011!!

I guess 1 out of 2 isn't bad... My usual record on craft-y projects is a big ole zero! I've never had much luck with the crafts....
However, when it comes to pumpkins, this year we've got a couple cute crafts that I don't think I can even mess up!
Tonight in addition to our adorable ghost feet Hoyleoween & my not so adorable polkadot pumpkin, Ironman & Princess Pumpkin joined the festivities.
And here's one of my sweet babies happy to pose with their pumpkins..

And lastly... one of the reasons why I am not usually crafty... I just don't have the craft bone. There's always some casualties in the quest for adorable projects, tonight it was my dining room table! First, while trying to decide what eyes to use on my cute ghost feet, I used a sharpie to mark on paper. Who knew that sharpie would go strait through the paper. That ended up with several black sharpie dots on my table top. Attempting to scrub them off, I tried several cleaners, and then thought of trying goo-gone... mistake! The goo-gone took off the marker & also the finish on my table :( Now several small spots are one large spot! Ahhh well, the price to pay for the craft bug tonight......

And... One more pic for the day.
PUMPKIN PATCH day at PreSchool! All dressed and ready this morning in their Halloween gear to head to the Pumpkin Patch!

Cook for a day, eat for a .... ehhh a few days ;)

A few days ago a very dear friend of mine introduced me to this wonderful, um... interesting, um.. informative, um.. ADDICTIVE website, Pinterest. While browsing through this gem, I found a post to a blog that was titled, "Cook for a day, eat for a month." What a concept I thought to myself, only one day of cooking a month and still have healthy, yummy meals for my family- how is that possible! I read a little deeper and this woman had some great ideas so I was inspired. I do love to cook, but I also love to cook when I have time, and time is something that is scarce around my house these days! With a 2 & 4 year old, 2 preschools, working full time, attempting to stay healthy, and actually spend some quality family time, this sounded like a plan I might have to try.

So.. today while getting ready for my big grocery shopping trip for the week, I sat down with my notebook, coupons, store sale flyer, and of course my Coffee! I looked through all the sales and decided that there was a few cuts of meat that I would work for my inspired plan on sale for a pretty good deal and some vegetables too, combined with a few things I already had on hand, this could be a recipe for success!

I spent about 2 hours at the grocery store gathering all of the things I needed for the week as well as my "cooking for a month plan." I did spend a little more than I expected, but hopefully that will stretch over the next few weeks. My total before coupons and store card was $319... and after I paid $186.00. I was pretty happy with that total!

I started cooking about 4:20 and it really took me about an hour and a half from start to finish. I started prepping with my veggies, cut up potato's, green pepper, onion, carrots, squash, zucchini, and tomato's. Then on to prepping and trimming all the meat including, pork chops, chicken breast, chicken legs, chicken quarters, hamburger, and ground turkey. I also got all my sauces ready and made a few marinades before I started. I also put 2 boxes of pasta on to boil and browned the ground meats. Then I just started throwing stuff together. I picked a marinade, a meat, and then veggies or spices and .. Dinner's ready for the freezer! I had made a meal plan before going to the grocery store and basically I stuck with it, but added a few ingredients as I went along.

Here's what all I made:

2 servings of: Pork Chops with green pepper, zucchini, onion, squash, potato, and carrots in a Teriyaki marinade. I had purchased a value pack of pork chops so I separated them into 2 bags of 3 chops each with veggies. One bag is for dinner this week and one is in the freezer for sometime in the future!

BBQ Chicken Leg Quarters & Herb-garlic-Lemon Boneless Chicken Breast:

Salsa Chicken & Chicken in Italian Marinade with Onion, Carrot, & Potato:

Taco Meat: 2 bags of taco meat with rotel tomatoes:

2 pans of Baked Spaghetti with hamburger, pepperoni, green pepper, & onions:

Both pans wrapped in foil and ready for the freezer!

I also made a pot of baked potato soup and froze it into 3 cartons for later.

All together, I think I got about 16 meals out of my shopping trip today. Most of which will also have plenty left over for lunches for Wes and I so I guess I got more than that. I was happy with everything I made and think it will be great to have the ease of throwing something in the crock pot thats already marinated and preped from the freezer. Hopefully it will help with meal planning too. I really enjoyed the cooking and for the time it took it was well worth it to me to have those meals prepared ahead of time. I think the biggest problem with it was the cost of the meat and vegetables all at one time. It was a big expense, but I have meals prepared for the week and even some for a few weeks from now. I would think to cook for the month would take a small fortune, but with planning I think it's something I would like to do occasionally. It was really fun and didn't take very long.

Keeping with the "Prepared" theme of Sunday, I laid out all the kids clothes for the week down to shoes, undies, and even hairbows! I even laid out my clothes for the week... quite a large task for me ;)

All together a pretty productive Sunday and I'm prepared for the week! I've got my meal plans written out including Breakfast, Lunch for the kids, and dinner for all 4 of us. I've got all our clothes laid out for the week, and most of all I've got all the meals planned, prepped, and ready to be cooked, go in the crock pot, or added to salad and we're ready to eat! Fast, fresh, and hopefully healthy!

My sweet girl is TWO....

I can't believe my sweet baby girl is 2!! I had a really hard time on the week of her birthday but am so excited to start this new adventure in toddler-hood with her! We've gone through the toddler years with Miller, but something tells me that miss priss is probably going to be a whole different story in the Hoyle family book!

Anyways, EmmaLeigh had her 2 year doctor appointment this week and she was perfect, as we already knew, but it's always great to hear from an outsider!

I absolutely love Emma & Miller's doctor and really look forward to asking her questions about my kids and her opinions.

Emma was such a big girl and just put on a whole show for the nurses and the doctor. She was 35.5 inches tall (completely off the chart % wise) & she was 28.2 pounds (which is right at the 50% mark for weight) She has been off the chart for height since birth and she's keeping up her height even at 2 years old- I'm hoping she stays tall and slim.. she'll love that when she's a teenager!

I filled out all the paperwork and completed the questionnaire for her age group, answering all the questions on her stats and abilities. She passed them all with flying colors, I was amazed at how advanced she seemed just by the questionnaire. Dr. C came in and checked her out, she was growing well, no problems or concerns. She then went over the questionnaire and asked me a few questions about certain things, but most memorable, she asked me if Em "could put more than 2 words together." As Emma is being her wild self, and dancing around the room, she walks over to the door and attempts to open the knob, turns around to me and says, "Oh no door is locked, Mommie what gunna do." Dr. C busted out laughing and says- I think we can check that off the list!

Emma is right on track and doing wonderful. Dr. C is very pleased with her progress and says she is way too smart for her age! She is such a joy to our lives and it's great to hear she's as perfect as we all know she is!

A few things about Miss Emma as she enters the wonderful world of TWO...

Em absolutely loves her dogs, blankets, and animals. She must sleep with ALL of them every night and at nap! She has 2 dog blankets, 3 blankets, a stuffed pig, a stuffed kitty, 4 pillow pets (including one she stole from Miller), a blue dog blanket (also stolen from Miller), and a HUGE Pink dog (about 3 times larger than her- given to her by my sweet cousin Dusty). She sleeps laying all over the animals and must make sure they are all there before she can sleep!

She has really began playing house and playing with her babies. She loves to feed them bottles, sit them in the high chair, sing to them as she puts them in their crib, and of course put them in Time Out- complete with the finger pointing and "dont you dare get up!"

She loves to eat anything and everything! Emma's favorite foods are tomatoes and "Mackey Cheese" She will pick up a tomato and eat it like an apple. She is a great eater and will usually clean her plate.

Emma Loves to Sing & dance with her brother, and does anything he does!

Her favorite movie is Tangled and she loves to dress up in her Repunsal dress, shoes, and most of all the crown!

She keeps us on our toes and keeps us laughing constantly! I know I have said it before, but she is the most precious little girl, and I am So blessed to be her mommie!

It's Party day.....

My babies have had one more huge birthday this year! I think, and more importantly I hope our birthday festivities are finally over!

Birthdays started this year on Aug 5th! Wes and I both took a day off work, along with my parents and Wes's parents to celebrate the kiddo's birthdays! My grandparents even flew in from a mission trip in Idaho to celebrate the week with us!

We got up early on Friday morning and had a pancake breakfast! I had found a recipe for "Funfetti Birthday Pancakes" they were awesome- made out of funfetti cake batter and oh so good! We had our first candle blow out and sang happy birthday to both kiddos individually.
After breakfast, Mom took the kids to watch a quick tv show while me, Wes, and our dads attempted to put together their birthday playhouse, in a quick minute! They came out and ran right to the playhouse! The loved it! We then began opening presents.... and we opened, and opened, and opened! I thought it resembled Christmas morning, the kids would open a gift, play with it for a few mins, and then go on to the next one! They had a blast opening all day long! We had lots of fun playing with all their new birthday toys all day long!

Saturday was Party day! We had a joint birthday party scheduled for the late afternoon with all our family and close friends! We were all ready and decorated and had big plans of a jumpy slide and snow cone machine outside for the party! However, the weather had other plans. The party was set for 5pm and the slide was to be here 4:30, which was about the same time the clouds started rolling in. Miller was in awe when he saw the slide, in his back yard! He had a few fun slides before everyone started arriving. All of our family and great friends came in and then the bottom decided to drop out! It rained all over the slide and the party! We moved inside quickly and attempted to not be hot and squished in this house. We opened presents, had pizza and cake and all the kids had a great time playing with new toys and our toys out in the playroom. The kiddo's are so blessed to have such great friends and family that love them so much to cram into our house while it rained outside to enjoy their birthday party with them!

Finally on Sunday we had a break- a few days off from the Birthday week!

On Tuesday, Emma's actual birthday (and my Daddy's too) I took the day off to spend with her! I can't believe my sweet baby is already 2. I had a rough day on the 9th, it only seems like yesterday that she was a sweet little one and now she's full toddler and wild as can be! I spent the day with her and Miller doing everything and anything they wanted to do, we had a fun play date with some great friends, and then took good naps and then out to dinner with my family to celebrate Emma & Popaw's birthdays. I held her extra long that night and rocked her until she fell asleep, something that she rarely allows me to do anymore, and I enjoyed it very much, I am so blessed to be her mommie!

Just a few short hours later... on Wednesday was Miller K's 4th birthday! Miller had a day all planned out for us starting with breakfast at his favorite place! When you tell a 4 year old that he can plan the day, you must sit back and laugh at the results! We started with a pancake breakfast at Mcdonalds with a little playing in the indoor playplace, then off to Monkey Joes for a birthday fun day! Some of our great friends met us there and we had a wonderful time, even if it was overly crowded! We then went out for lunch and Miller's next request was a trip to ToysRUs. We had fun in the toy store and walked up and down every aisle until he picked out the perfect birthday toy. We came home, had great naps, and then ending the day in perfect Miller birthday fashion he picked out dinner. He wanted his favorite Chicken & Broccoli from the Chinese place and ate his weight in it!

We had a great birthday week and I am so blessed to have my wonderful family and friends and most of all my beautiful, healthy, amazing babies! I am so proud of them and of the children they are becoming! I love them more than life and would do anything for them. I am so happy to celebrate their birthdays this past week and hope and pray for many many more of these crazy weeks for the rest of my life! I've never been more proud to be a mom. Happy 2nd and 4th birthdays Miss Emma & Miller K!

Miss EmmaLeigh's grand entrance...

A few days ago I decided to write a post to share Miller's birth story. Today it's all about the 2nd child.....

Miss EmmaLeigh Carroll

First... I apologize for the length of this and of previous birth type posts to all 1 1/2 of my readers ;)

Miss Emma is the 2nd child, so my pregnancy with her was very different for a lot of reasons, but basically because I knew what to expect, or so I thought. Emma's pregnancy was horrible and that's the only way I know to describe it. I was sick from day 1. I'm pretty sure I began puking the day I conceived and didn't stop until a few seconds before she arrived. Wes and I began thinking we wanted a 2nd child just a few weeks after Miller turned 1... yes 1, I know we were crazy! But, we wanted our children close in age for various reasons. So Miller turns 1 in August, we start thinking about expanding our family a few weeks later.... and skipping a few details... WOW.. I'm pregnant in October AGAIN!
I woke up one morning the first of October, sick on my stomach, the kind of sick feeling you get from motion sickness. Maybe it was something I ate, maybe a bug, nope.... it was Pregnancy Sickness (Once you've seen it, you know it!) I was scared and excited all at the same time. The morning sickness continued the entire pregnancy, eventually with me losing 15lbs instead of gaining any weight. I couldn't eat and what I did, didn't stay down. I was on 6 different nausea medicines, spent 3 nights in the hospital on different occasions for fluids from dehydration, and felt horrible the entire 9 months. Plus, I had a almost 2 year old running around the whole time!

My due date with Miss Emma was today, August 2nd. She was a large baby at first ultrasound so the timeline kind of got a little mixed up, from the date I thought conception would have taken place to to her due date due to her size. I had a rough pregnancy but every ultrasound and test of miss Emma they did, she was thriving. She was able to get everything she needed from me.

As I said, my Due date was August 2nd. I went in on the 2nd and the doctor checked me and did an ultrasound. Emma was still in good shape, had plenty of fluid, and didn't seem to be ready to make her entrance yet. I was dilating a little and by my due date check I was already 3cm dilated. The midwife that I met with that day did a little procedures to kind of get the ball moving. It didn't work. I was to call back in 5 days if I din't go into labor, but she didn't think we would go that long. She thought she would see us at the hospital within the next few hours. She was wrong, really wrong! 5 days later, I was still pregnant and had another appointment to meet with the doctor. I went in and they also said they couldn't believe I was still not in labor, but thought it would be that night for sure. They were still wrong! They had me go ahead and schedule a apointment for an induction the morning of August 9th... 7 days overdue! We went home got all of our bags packed and just waited. We were ready to be at the hospital early morning on the 9th. We had dropped Miller off with his grandparents, gave him lots of kisses, and explained to him that mommie's baby would be here the next time he saw Mommie & Daddy.

Well, in typical Em fashion, she must do everything her way. About the time we pulled out of my Inlaws from dropping off Miller I felt a little "cramp" And deep inside I knew, this was it. I was scheduled for an induction in the early morning but she was going to come in her own way. I had made the decision earlier that I was going to "labor" at home for a while. I thought I would know when it was time to go to the hospital and I wasn't going to have the doctor send me to the hospital just to send me back home because I wasn't ready again. We went home to get ready for bed, and it was obvious Emma wasn't waiting. I took a quick shower and almost couldn't get my hair dried before doubling over in pain. This labor was happening a lot faster that the first. We got packed and called into the hospital to let them know we were on our way.

By the time I got to the hospital, I was in serious pain. I was hurting and couldn't even time the contractions, they were coming so fast. We pulled up, I walked into the delivery room and the nurse gave me a gown to change into and my water broke as soon as we walked into my room. This baby was coming, and fast! I got laid down, IV's in and the nurse checked me... I was 8cm dilated. She called immediately for the doctor and I immediately asked for pain meds. I had the Strep B Virus with Emma and knew ahead of time that I would need to be treated with an antibiotic before delivering my baby girl. I was so dehydrated that before I could be given the epidural or the antibiotics I had to be given 2 entire bags of fluid. I was in serious pain, my contractions were continuous by this point, with almost no relief. It felt like forever for both those bags of IV fluid to drain down. Finally they were in and I cold get my epidural. The epidural took and finally after 4 hours of constant pain, I had some relief. I was so exhausted from fighting the pain that they wanted me to rest if I could. I was already dilated to 10cm and ready to push around 1am. However, I still had to have my antibiotic and I was feeling just fine with my epidural, and Miss Emma was sitting pretty, no stress on her at all. My doctor checked me right after getting the epidural and told all nurses not to touch or check me again until the antibiotic was in, because she was afraid Miss Em would make her grand appearance when no one was ready! She had me "labor down" and wait until the antibiotic was in and then we were ready to push. I started pushing at 5:30am on the dot. They had all the nurses ready and it was time! Dr. T got in position at 5:30 and Em was here with the first push... One hard push and she was here! The nurse didn't even have time to lay out a blanket, she was laid on my chest and we were all in shock. My precious baby girl was here! It was August 9th, at 5:34am. Emma was so precious and so beautiful. She was smaller than Miller and weighed in at just 7lb12oz and 21 inches long.

The nurse took my sweet girl to clean her off, get her scores, and weight checks. She also had a tough time keeping up her body heat on her own so she had to stay under the heat lamps for a few extra hours.

Because it was so early in the morning and we had been up all night long, everyone went home to take showers and get naps. Wes & I layed there looking at our precious baby girl and were so happy that she had joined our family. Later that afternoon Big Brother Miller finally came up for a visit. We had missed him so much, but he was not very thrilled to meet his new sister. From day one Miller was not very interested in Miss Emma, well that's not really changed!

Luckly because Miss Emma was doing so well and I was also recovering well, we were able to come home the very next day! We left the hospital on Aug, 10th which was also Miller's 2nd birthday. We welcomed home a new baby girl and celebrated a newly turned 2 year old on the same day!

Emma is such a sweet girl and we are so blessed to have her as our daughter, I couldn't be more proud to be a mom!

The Story of Miller K...

I can't believe my sweet little man will be 4 in just a few days!

My best friend recently had the best idea for a blog post about her little man who is also turning 4. She went back and had a little time reminiscing about his birth story, Coops birth. I thought wow, what a great way to actually have a digital copy of the story of his birth. So, Rebecca I'm stealing your idea... probably in 2 different posts ;)

My story begins almost 4 years ago on August 9th! I had a really great pregnancy with Miller. Everything was exciting and as a first time mom everything was new. I was scared and ecstatic about everything he did in my belly. The first time he kicked, he kicked a magazine (that was resting on my belly, why not? it was a great prop) all the way across the den floor. I did have lots of morning sickness, but I gained the right amount of weight and overall had a healthy pregnancy.
Miller was due on August 7th. I went to the doctor on my actual due date and she kind of laughed saying he was in no hurry to make his grand entrance. I was just a little over a 1/2 centimeter dilated and she saw no signs of Miller ready to come out. She said to go home and attempt to jump start labor by the typical "home methods." So I walked, got a pedicure, and put the hubby to good use for the next day or so. Still no signs. Then in the early morning hours, 2 whole days later, on August 9th I felt the smallest little almost cramp. Well as a first time mom, I jumped up, went to the bathroom, and thought could this be it! I think I almost expected my water to break, just because I went to the bathroom- oh well! I went back to bed and started timing my "cramps" They didn't really get any worse but they were pretty constant, about every 4 mins. At about 7am, I woke Wes up because they were getting stronger. I had a doctors apt that morning anyways. They had scheduled me to come in on the 9th which was a Friday, to see my progress before leaving for the weekend. I was kind of getting excited, could this really be it? I called my dad, for 2 reasons, to tell him I think I may be in labor and to wish him a Happy Birthday! Yes, my dad's birthday is actually on the 9th too.. Lots going on in August in my family ;) But anyways, he answered the phone, the same way he had for the last few weeks. "Is it Miller time" I excitledly said, i think it might be, and he quickly passed the phone to my momma! haha!

Well my appointment was scheduled for 10 am, by then my contractions were in full swing. They were steady every 4 minutes, but just a little tingle- no real pain yet! I went in to see the doctor, and when she checked me, she agreed, I was in labor! She said since it was a Friday she would send me on to the hospital for evaluation. I was hovering somewhere between a 3 & 4 on the dilated scale. When we got to the hospital, I was really in no pain and they told me to walk the halls for a few mins to maybe get the process started because although I was dilating I wasn't in "Active" labor. I walked the hospital halls for about 3 hours, the nurse checked me again, and still no "Active" labor. The doctor came in and told me that without active labor, she wanted me to go home and sleep in my bed and we would probably not be back for a few days! "A few days".... a few what! Then why the heck did you send me over here, just to send me home! Anyways, after I cried over that for a few mins, I agreed, I wasn't in active labor, and I didn't get much sleep so that kind of sounded nice. Dr. W gave me a prescription for an Ambien to help me sleep and said that she would probably see me in the office on Monday.. ugh Monday!

So we left the hospital, went by the Pharmacy to get the Ambien filled, and I started hurting, hurting pretty bad. I got the pill, went home, laid down like they said to, and literally stared at the clock for 2 solid hours. I never took my eyes off of the clock, I watched every minute count down from 6pm-8pm, and also counting ever 3 minutes when my contractions would hit. They were getting worse- and fast. I was scared though, I thought ok she said Monday, but this is getting kind of bad. At about 8pm I got up, went to the den and sat there for a few mins. Some of my dear family friends were there, watching me as I attempted to sit still and let each contraction hit me. They urged me to go back to the hospital so after some convincing I did just that. Honestly, I don't remember the car ride at all, I have no idea how I got to the hospital or checking in at labor & delivery. However, I distinctly remember the look of the doctor when she walked in and saw it was me. First words out of her mouth, "What are you doing here, your NOT having this baby tonight." I froze, I was like, I think if i'm not having this baby then something is totally wrong. I was in terrible- I mean horrible pain. Contractions were still a steady every 3 minutes and getting so much more intense. I was hurting! Now keep in mind, when this "wonderful" doctor sent me home, a few hours earlier, I was already dilated to 4cm. I'm pretty sure that at 4cm you can get an epidural- just saying! Back on track... She said well since you've brought me up here, I guess I'll go ahead and check you. I was like, um, yes please, I'm dying here! She checked me and immediately her facial expression changed. Her face kind of dropped. "Oh my, your already 7 1/2 cm dilated." Secretly inside I wanted to say "told you so" but instead my first time mom jitters along with the fact that I was in some serious Contraction PAIN! I just smiled and said, then can I have some pain meds. About that time my water also broke, as she was checking me. She then turned into my best friend doctor... um, no you just made me feel like a fool, for no reason, I'm good! Dr. W gave me some pain options, Pills, nothing, epidural, um.. EPIDURAL please! & fast! I'm already near 8 & don't you just have to be at 10!

Well, I got the epidural and a few bags of fluid, and then I felt pretty good. No complaints from me, the Ambien was also kicking in full blast, so I had a nice little nap while everyone else stayed up awaiting the arrival of my sweet baby boy!

A few hours later, around 3am, the nurse checked me again and said I was well ready to push. To what, i thought, ohh my can this really be happening. Yes, it was time to push! I started pushing and nothing was happening. I remember everyone counting to 10, over and over, and not allowing me to stop pushing until they were at 10. I kept praying please let them count faster. I pushed about 15 mins and the nurse told me to relax and breathe through the next few contractions, while she called Dr. W. She came in and while she was getting ready, I started pushing for the nurse again. Dr. W had a little excitement when that happened and for once believed me and kicked her butt into high gear! We were ready. I pushed hard 2 more times for the doctor and she said the most precious words that I have ever heard in my life. "Angela, get ready, your about to become a mom" The nurse placed a blanket on my chest, spread it out and said to me, "your life is about to change forever." I was in full mom mode by that point, I was so excited I couldn't believe I was one push away from becoming a mom, the thing I had dreamed about for months and months. Finally the time came, the contraction was here, ohhh my no turning back now. One hard push and here he was. Miller Kenneth arrived! it wast August 10th at 4:32am. Love, love is all I could think about at that very moment. He was beautiful, he had a head full of dark hair, and I remember thinking, man he looks big! I held him and hugged on him for a few mins and then they took him to be weighed and get his scores and clean him off a little bit. While the doctor sewed me up .. tmi, I know. But, the doctors had to work on me quite a bit, the other nurses took my baby off to weigh him. She placed him on the scales, and shouted out over the room... 9lbs 11oz... All of a sudden, the hustle and bustle stopped, the once busy busy room, turned almost silent. What? what did she just say? She couldn't have said what I thought she said. I looked at Wes, he looked at me.. what? Dr. W looked at the nurse, somethings wrong with that she said, weigh him again. Same weight the 2nd time... wow he was one big baby, perfect, but big!
They finished cleaning him off while Wes went out to the waiting room to show off pictures of our precious baby boy. Wes will forever be coined with the waiting room entry phrase of, "We had a flippin toddler" haha! He was a big baby. They took his footprints, his photos, and Apgar scores. He scored a 7 on the Apgar score, but they insisted since he was such a big baby, he would need to eat within an hour after being born.

I was finally fixed up and they allowed all of our visitors who had been patiently waiting on Miller's arrival to parade through the room. Everyone was so happy to see him and couldn't believe he was finally here! Our family and friends were all thrilled to see and hold him. He had to lay under the heat lamps for a little longer than typically required, due to his size, he couldn't keep up his own body temperature. Everyone paraded through the nursery to see him laying there, just adorable. My mom & dad, Wes' Parents, the Stameys, Teresa & Ali, and Chris & Rebecca with little newborn 5week old Coop were all there to see Miller's first hours.

After he was shown off to everyone, I had to attempt to feed him for the first time. He and I had to learn together, and that first attempt at breastfeeding I'm sure was pretty comical. He had to eat and he was a hungry boy. He was able to feed as much as he needed right away and I thought we did pretty good with it.

After everyone left to go home and take naps, since we had kept them up all night, I sat there staring and really holding my baby boy for the first time. He was amazing. He was beautiful. He was perfect. Immediately I felt a bond with him, he was mine and I loved him more than I ever thought possible. I was scared to take my eyes off of him, he was not leaving my sight. The nurse came in to take him to give him a real bath and I guess she could see the fear in my eyes, so she left, and came back with the stuff and bathed him right there in our room. A few hours later, the nurse did have to come get him and take him to see the Pediatrician in the nursery. I made Wes follow him all the way to the nursery and stand outside and wait on the Pediatrician to finish checking him out and then follow the nurse back to me. I was a little bit of an overprotective first time mom, but he was mine, and we bonded immediately, and I was not letting him out of my sight. We had lots of great family & friends visit us as soon as they got word that Miller was here. We are so lucky to have each of them.

Because I was such a nervous wreck, as soon as Dr. W released me, we were outta there! We actually came home the very next day. I was excited to get home and break full force into a new routine with my sweet boy!

Over all, my birth experience with Miller was a great one. Sure there was lots of pain and a horrible recovery (9lb baby.. I didn't think I would ever be the same). But, it was all worth it. I think the human body/mind has a way of forgetting the most horrific parts of our childbirth, to allow us to even contemplate having a 2nd child. He was a great baby and I am so blessed to be his mother.
