Sleep.....

Sleep...it's necessary to live on although at our house- sleep has become very scarce!
As a mother of 2 young children- the sleep cycle has changed often over the last couple of years for us.....
In college- sleep consisted of falling into bed sometime early morning and sleeping as late as possible-
In Young married life- sleep consisted of regular patterns of going to bed later and maybe catching the occasional nap together during the afternoon
Then- as a Mother- sleep became a highly desired commodity that didn't really get it's fair share of play... and that cycle has continued i'm sorry to say...

I feel like we never get enough sleep! We put the kids to bed early, but then to get to spend any time together or doing housework- we must do that after the kids go to bed! So at 9pm sharp every night- Wes and I have a date to clean the kitchen, straiten up the den and playroom, do a few loads of laundry, and hopefully settle down together to watch a few TV programs and play on the computers for some together time sometime around 11 or 12! So if we want and have to do all that- where do we leave time in there for that precious Sleep! B/c I do love to sleep!

So all that to say- last night- after an exhausting day of laying around the house- Isn't is weird that those days meant to be relaxing can become the most exhausting! Mills has been sick, Emma is demanding so much attention (jealousy over her bother being sick), and now Wes is catching whatever Mills has had.... so i'm having a hard time keeping up my "mother of the year" status ;)
I went to BED- BED at 8:30 right after the kiddo's went to bed! I went to bed without any TV, computer, or anything- went right to sleep! And I slept for 12 hours! I decided all the laundry, cleaning, and facebook checking would be there tomorrow, and I would go to sleep! I was exhausted, so it didn't take much convincing! And I must say- I have never woke up feeling any better! I was happy and excited to wake up with the kids this morning! Not my usual walking zombie until I have my Coffee Mom- but happy- sure i'm ready to play Mom! I may make this a weekly thing- I can give up my duties and my facebook one night a week for some extra sleep- it may even become a pattern--- let's just hope no one stops by to see my house this morning- that didn't get cleaned up last night ;)

So Here's to SLEEP! My how i've missed you!
